The follow-up appointments take about 15 minutes. This timeline provides a general overview of the care we offer throughout your pregnancy.
The pregnancy checkups start at about 16 weeks. We will always assess the growth of the uterus and listen to the baby’s heartbeat. We also measure your blood pressure and, if necessary, do additional blood work.
Once you have passed the 28 week mark, we can also feel the baby’s growth and position during external examinations.
During these checkups, there is time to discuss how you are doing. We also want to know if you have any questions or concerns we can discuss.
You will visit the practice about 14 times throughout your pregnancy. Your checkups become more frequent as your pregnancy progresses. You will meet all the midwives during these checkups. If you would prefer to meet one or two midwives during your pregnancy, this can be arranged. You can discuss this with one of the midwives.
