It is important that you know you can always call us. Our emergency number is available day and night. We would like you to call us if you are feeling insecure or anxious. The points below therefore are only guidelines, you are free to deviate from them.

• If you are giving birth for the first time call us when there are painful, regular contractions during a period of 1 hour, which are 3 minutes apart and last about 60 seconds.
• If you have given birth before, call us when the contractions are 5 minutes apart and last about 60 seconds.
• Also call us when your water breaks and the head of the baby hasn’t descended (we will indicate this during the checks). We also advise you to lay down.
• If the amniotic fluid is green or brown: call immediately
• If the head has descended and the amniotic fluid is clear call us immediately during the day. At night you don’t have to call us immediately and it’s possible to wait until 9:30 AM or until the contractions are 3 to 5 minutes apart.
• Call immediately if there is a lot of clear red blood loss.
• Call immediately if you are worried, or if you feel the baby move less often.
