8 weeks scan

The first ultrasound will take place around eight weeks. This ultrasound is usually not covered by your health insurance. We will give it to you because we know it is nice to have an ultrasound early on in your pregnancy. It is an extra service from the practice to you. You do not have to pay anything for it.

With this ultrasound we check whether the pregnancy is in the uterus, whether the heart is beating and whether it is one baby or perhaps multiple births.

Because early pregnancy brings some uncertainty we have an extra service. If you like, you can have a look at or listen to your baby every week from your first ultrasound. From 8-14 weeks, you can have a short extra ultrasound for free. From 14-24 weeks, you can come and listen to your baby every week.
